Women make the choice to leave the workforce to have kids. It's dumb to think you'd come back 5-6 years later when the kids start school, and your salary will magically be higher than it was in the past.

Wonder if Schmuhl will threaten with arrest those employers whose payrolls don't meet his expectations.

If Pete really believes this is true, then he would have picked a woman as his Chief of Staff. If Pete really, really believed this, then he would not not have run for office himself, he would have devoted his considerable energies and his own financial resources to getting a woman elected Mayor of South Bend.

You have missed the point completely. It is not about replacing men with women in all jobs, it is about paying women the same as men if they do the same job. A female Chief of Staff should be paid the same as a male Chief of Staff. A woman mayor should be paid the same as a man who is mayor.

But if Pete has the position, then a woman can't. Pete should have run a woman for the position and then served as her C of S. But that would have left Mike Schmul, Buttigieg's childhood chum, without a "worthy job." Looks like SB is raising a new generation of back scratchin' good old boys.

Nothing to see here, Pete's just a guy doing his thing. All he needs to do is smile and look sincere. Beyond that don't expect much.

The next Equal Occupational Fatality Day is in 2020. Year 2020 is how far into the future women must work to experience the same number of work-related deaths that men experienced in 2009 alone. http://mjperry.blogspot.com/2010/04/equal-occupational-fatality-death-day.html Now see: "Will the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act Help Women?" at http://malemattersusa.wordpress.com/2011/12/03/will-the-ledbetter-fair-pay-act-help-women/

Here's the real deal. if employers are discriminating then they should be sued. But 95% of the time there are reasons why females make less, time on the job, qualifications, etc.
