Hundreds of couples shared their engagement stories for WNDU’s Dream Wedding Contest, and we've narrowed it down to three. Soon, people will vote to select the lucky winner. One of those finalists is a couple whose engagement is just a snapshot of their lasting love.

A photo album holds the memories of good friends, family and travels, special moments treasured by Amanda Smith and Eric Sorg.

The two met at work.

“I thought she was cute when I first saw her,” Eric said smiling. “He doesn't ever stop smiling,” Amanda added.

Soon the couple fell in love and learned to appreciate each other's interests and hobbies, including Amanda's passion for photography.

She prefers film over digital technology. “I don't think it's true to form as taking regular pictures on film,” Amanda said. “I feel that film catches the moment a little better.”

So, for Christmas, Eric found a film camera online and thought up a way to propose. “When I got the camera, I thought why not put it on the film for her so she can have it developed herself,” he said.

Amanda was thrilled with her gift, but that wasn’t all.

“He said, ‘That's not your only gift. You have another gift on the film, but you have to get it developed before you can see it or have it.’ He said, ‘You might want to start taking pictures,’” Amanda said.

So that’s exactly what she did. She snapped away, taking pictures of pets, family and Christmas decorations until the film was done.

But, then came a problem. How would she get it developed? “I started calling around to these places trying to see if they were open on Christmas day.” Amanda said.

Luckily, she found a 24-hour drugstore that still had film developing.

Once back at the apartment, she finally got to take a look. “It was the very first one (picture),” she said. “Eric, in front of the Christmas tree with this sign and a ring …”

Eric continued “… as she's looking at the pictures, I got down on one knee.”

Now that they're engaged, they dream of getting married. But they set their wedding date back because of expenses. They say they would really love to win the contest.

This couple looks forward to many special moments to add to their photo album, side by side, in love.

The story of the last finalist couple will air on WNDU on Thursday just before 6 p.m.

You'll also be able to see the stories again on the web and read their application. Once voting opens, it will remain open until March 18 at 11:59 p.m. Viewers can vote only once a day. The winning couple will be announced on March 20 during 16 Morning News.
