Nearly four years after being shot in the head a Michigan man remains hospitalized and police are still looking for who did it.
A shooting happened on February 7, 2008 around 11:00 p.m. in Benton Harbor. The police received a call of a shooting in the 700 block of Colfax Street. They found 17-year-old Ramsey Smith shot in the head.
"With the quick action of the first responders, they did what they had to do to keep him alive, and the neurosurgeon did what he had to do," said Lt.Cindy Kilgore of Crime Stoppers.
Lt. Kilgore said Smith's grandmother refers to Ramsey's personality as "playful". "His grandma said he has made some improvements over the last few years, especially after he was not expected to live," said Lt. Kilgore.
Smith is recovering. He cannot walk or speak but does recognize people. "With a lot of these shootings...it doesn't seem likely that this was a random act," said Lt. Kilgore.
There is a cash reward for tips in this case. Crime Stoppers can be reached at (800) 342-STOP or (574) 288-STOP. All tips are anonymous.
