Habitat for Humanity gives people who might be struggling a chance to finally own their home.
The Elkhart County chapter wants to make more dreams come true, so they’re looking for applicants.
“We accept applications twice a year and this is our spring round,” says Audrey Eash, Family Services Director with Elkhart County’s Habitat for Humanity.
The first step is to attend an informational meeting.
During the month of March, there will be five chances for you to attend a meeting and to pick-up an application for the Habitat program.
“We’re looking for people who are stable and looking forward to home ownership,” says Eash. Three things are assessed when looking at applicants: the need for better housing, the ability to pay the mortgage and the willingness to partner with Habitat.
Those who have gone through the program say it’s a life changing experience. According to Eash, “it’s the security, it helps with kids being able to stay in the same school system, and just having that stable place to grow up.”
You must attend one of the following meetings in order to apply:
- Monday, March 15 at 7 p.m.
Tolson Center
1300 Benham Avenue, Elkhart - Tuesday, March 16 at 11 a.m.
