With everyone trying to save a buck these days online auction sites are skyrocketing in popularity. They offer discounts retail stores can't touch.

Do a Google search on the word "barter" and you'll see bartering is becoming a big business online, thanks in part to eBay and Craigslist.

There are now dozens of sites where goods and services are traded or bartered instead of bought with bucks.

Some sites, like International Monetary Services, are for members only and geared toward businesses and corporations.

But, many are aimed at consumers, like U-Exchange, which requires registration, but is absolutely free to use.

There, you can list what you have to trade, what you want, browse for things like vacations, home trades, electronics, cars, just about anything from anywhere. This site has nearly 60,000 members.

Across the country, other regional sites are cropping up, like the Midwest Business Exchange, which is a membership site that issues credits with all sorts of participating businesses and services.

If you'd like to check out any of these sites to help you save a little cash for a little trade, head to the big red bar.
